My Learning Goals

Description:

Today we looked through our reports from last year. We identified a next step (goal) for reading, writing and maths. Here are my goals:

Maths: My next learning step is to solve division question with remainders.

To achieve this goal I will: to slip the strategy into two groups.

Reading: My next step is to focus on the main ideas of a text and to summarise what is happening in the book

To achieve this goal I will: I will lock in the main ideas to remember them for after the story.

Writing: My goal is to add my personal feelings and voice into my writing

To achieve this goal I will: I will keep using juicy words and hopefully that well help.

We also looked at our STAR results.

• Word recognition I got _10__ out of 10.
• Sentence comprehension I got _8__ out of 10.
• Paragraph comprehension I got 13___ out of 15.
• Vocabulary I got 7___ out of 10.

I am going to focus on: vocabulary

Water day

It was Thursday! Water day we all got in our togs. Joy and Brenda epsilon the rules. of we go. i was with joy in the pool. we were learning to save are self. the pool was very warm. joy said if a helicopter came to save us what would you do. lots of people said make a circle so we did it was very hard but we did it. there gos the bell. i said to Henry ''this is very fun Henry replied '' yes it is '' Are next active was tin foell boats. we got to put beans in tin foell and make it float. it was very fun me and Henry broke a record it was 150 the old one was 139. next active was water fight. the teams were me Henry and Chris v Eric Max and Amber. I got my water gun ready 3 2 1 go. Very quickly I shot.  Water came out slash! I was running and crawling to there buis. The bell went next the last active slip and side. we had to make it. we had made it. I went first. I run up and slide water came over top of me it would be cool in slow mode. all the other went. i had one last turn and i slid like a whale. the bell rung back to class getting jerst and go home.

Active Listening

We are learning about different types of listening. There are 3 main types of listening that we learnt about. Busy Listening - When the person listening is busy doing something. They are too busy to concentrate on what is being said. Me Too Listening - When the person listening has a story that they feel is more important than the person talking so they interrupt and share their story instead of listening. Active Listening - When the person listening looks at the person talking, concentrates, gives non-verbal feedback (e.g. nodding) and asks questions about the story. To learn about the different types of listening, we watched this video:

 

 As a class we created our own video to help us understand the different types.
After practising each type of listening, we realised…

• Busy listening makes us feel like you’re not listening to us. We found it really hard to keep talking. 
• Me too listening makes us feel frustrated and sad that you think your story is more important. 
• Active listening makes us feel valued. We know you are listening because you are looking, nodding, asking questions. 

 As a class we are all trying to get better at being active listeners.

Maths

In maths I'm learning to split the number in five. This is a video of us working out maths problem.
I found it hard because we had to learn how to play it so quickly.

In music we have been learning how to make a band. My goal is to follow the rtym.
it have been hard because you have to keep in time.

Swimming goal

In swimming I'm learning to keep my chin down on my chest and keep my body straight. This is a video of me swimming.
i am proud of my swimming because I can do everything that I want to learn in swimming

Swimming sports

The day was here it was swimming sport! I came to school all geared up. The bell rung I was so neviours I nearly peed my pants. We jumped on the bus I scurried to the back. Here we go I was pumped when we got off the bus. We walk into the lido I staned in my house my house was kerurea. I waiting for the wiht races to start. Wihts have started it was the year six grils frist. I waved at my grandad he waved back. The wihts where over it was the lengths now. I heard cam say it the big stuff is starting I repled I'm in it. It was time it was the year 3/4 freestyle I line up in the second line. I saw Henry swam like a dolphin. It was my turn I got in the water David said go I swam as fast as I could and I fished I did the same of backstack. My goal next year is to do all the lengths. I went back home on the bus and that is the end. Cole
